The Nebraska Men’s Basketball senior class of 2025 was one of the most accomplished classes in its history. Against rival Iowa in the last regular season game, the Husker faithful sold-out the arena to honor these student-athletes in their last appearance in Lincoln. An emotional narrative defined a majority of the player reflections and that tone was emphasized with an inspiring score and edit for each player’s respective journey. A final motion graphic reinforced the narrative of conclusion with each title putting the finishing brushstrokes on the portrait of their careers.
Known for striking fear into opponents, “The Blackshirts” — Nebraska’s legendary defensive unit — are a pillar of the Cornhuskers’ football identity. When the Blackshirts take the field, the crowd erupts to its loudest levels, collectively “throwing the bones” to disorient visiting offenses. A hard-hitting rap/rock theme was chosen to match this intensity and push it over the top, turning the student section into more of a mosh pit than some bleacher seating. Visually, a horror-inspired aesthetic was used to make opponents brace for violence — and have everyone else in Memorial Stadium quite literally seeing red.
With one of the most hostile rivalries between former Big 12 foes on the cusp of being renewed in Memorial Stadium for the first time in 6 years, an assistant coach from the University of Colorado had a stern warning for his players: an impending, deafening sea of red. This quote was set to footage captured of local buffaloes, archival footage of historic bouts, and enhanced media day close-ups—turning a defensive hype video into a warning (and coincidentally commencing the game that broke a three-game losing streak in the rivalry).
Anticipation. Energy. Electrifying. These words capture the atmosphere of a full Pinnacle Bank Arena minutes before the Huskers’ starting lineups are introduced for tipoff against some of the most storied programs in and outside of the Big Ten. We directed the 2024–25 team through multiple media day stations inside of PBA, using simple lighting setups and smoky haze to keep the focus on framing composition and action. The footage was later stylized with a red-orange tint that complemented the scarlet and cream, highlighting the ability and personality of the Nebraska Men’s Basketball team. The result: a dynamic visual that riled up the building before every matchup.
An integral part of the paradise-like fall Saturdays in Lincoln, the Cornhusker Marching Band deserved a red-carpet treatment for every pregame performance—one that matched the personality of the college students who dedicate countless hours to fueling the excitement of over 80,000 fans eager to see their favorite football team take the field. After collaborating with band members and the director, we brought the project’s vision to life by incorporating an iconic cartoon band entrance—an unexpected, attention-grabbing moment that created an instant connection with the crowd. Paired with a cinematically crafted edit, this intro amped up the energy and set the stage for what this group had in store each game day.
The defensive side of baseball is a deep breath full of anticipation. Players and fans alike await the hectic, scattered reaction to a hit that could come at any second. A classic AC/DC track kicks in, hitting the gas as the Nebraska defensive unit takes the field. Animated media day footage, mixed with some of the biggest Husker defensive plays, sets the tone—letting everyone in Haymarket Park know they’re in for a ride as soon as the next pitch gets thrown.
“...winning the Big Ten is harder than winning a National Championship.” That quote from legendary Nebraska Volleyball coach John Cook said it all—and yet, in 2023, they still did just that. During a preseason scrimmage in front of a packed house, the Big Ten title was celebrated, giving fans a brief glimpse of the journey that led to the championship. From the biggest moments on the road to the massive home win against rival Wisconsin, the emotions and battles of conference play defined the Huskers’ historic run.
After producing three other Men’s Basketball hype videos for Pinnacle Bank Arena, we decided to mix things up and try something more outside the box than the traditional, clean, modern style. With sports fans often expressing how much they miss the maximalist aesthetic and the “aura” of nostalgic late-2000s and early-2010s videos, this project aimed to replicate that feeling for the 2025 Husker Men’s Basketball team. Inspired by the themes and music video style of the classic track “Let It Rock,” the video was designed to lift the crowd from the lull of a timeout and back into the action with a rowdy anthem that brought the noise levels back visually and literally.
